Michele Spanghero

Gorizia, 1979. Lives in Monfalcone

Spanghero is a musician and visual artist who graduated in Modern Literature from the University of Trieste. He made his musical debut in 2005, recording for a number of independent labels including Palomar Record, Gurenrekorder and Miraloop. Starting in 2006, he combined these interests with experimentation in the visual arts, exploring the relationship between sculptural form and acoustic phenomenon, and between sound wave generation and installation devices. He also explored the photographic medium. In 2012 he received the Premio Icona award at Art Verona and the Premio Musica Diffusa award at perAspera Festival in Bologna, as well as being among the winners of the Premio Fico in Rome. The following year he won the online vote in the Brussels-based Blumm Prize. His most recent solo shows include exhibitions at the Galleria Mario Mazzoli in Berlin (2014, 2016) and at the Centro Studi Pasolini (2015). His main group exhibitions include La magnifica ossessione at the Mart in Rovereto (2013) and Till It’s Gone at the Istanbul Museum of Modern Art (2016).
