Marinella Senatore

Cava de’ Tirreni (SA), 1977. Lives in Paris and London

Senatore’s art is characterized by public participation, a component able to boost its creative power, starting with the dialogue between individual stories, collective cultures and social structures. Everyone can take part in the artist’s participatory works, which simultaneously question her role as an author and that of the public as the receiver (Rosas, 2012; The School of Narrative Dance, 2013‒ongoing). Senatore uses a broad spectrum of media: video, drawing, performance, installation, photography, sound, painting and sculpture. Her works have been hosted by various institutions, both in Italy and abroad, such as Queens Museum, New York (2017), Les Laboratoires d’Aubervilliers, Paris (2016), High Line, New York, 13th Lyon Biennale (2015), Castello di Rivoli, Turin, Kunsthalle, San Gallo, MAXXI, Rome (2014), and 54th Venice Biennale (2011).
