Leone Contini

Florence, 1976. Lives in Tuscany

Having trained as a philosopher and anthropologist, Contini uses the investigative tools of anthropology to link geographically and culturally distant territories, tackling the theme of migration in all its most pressing and everyday aspects (Toscocina. Sobborghi di Prato, 2010‒13). Using the lecture performance and gastronomic demonstration (Uncontrolled Denominations, 2015), he succeeds in embodying the complexities to which he bears witness and which his notebooks, diaries and exchanges of objects and seeds convey in his installations. The institutions he has worked with include Delfina Foundation, London (2014); DOCVA Viafarini, Milan; Stadthausgalerie, Münster; Kunstverein, Amsterdam; Art Lab, Tirana (2013); Centro per l’Arte Contemporanea Luigi Pecci, Prato; Frigoriferi Milanesi, Milan; Chan, Genoa (2012); Villa Romana, Florence; and Gallery Doma Omladine, Belgrade (2009).
