Nazardo works in the field of fashion photography and portraiture. Even when his photographs are professional commissions, his subjects convey a naturalness and intimacy with the photographer. Meanwhile, his photographs produced outside the professional context document everyday life, seemingly always filtered through the formal language of fashion photography. The artist’s photos therefore sidestep professional boundaries and embrace the profession, even in the most personal surroundings. Nazardo’s portraits of his partner are a perfect illustration of this. His gaze seems to have fallen victim to the short circuit between the professional “manner” of the photographer and the act of the lover, the eroticizing intent and the anaesthetized channeling of the product.
