Davide Stucchi

Vimercate (MB), 1988. Lives in Milan

Stucchi’s research is devoted to exploring the materiality of the artwork and visual strategies that make it possible to overturn its character as an object. Although Stucchi describes himself as a “sculptor,” much of his work involves minimal interventions on the material: fire branding a remnant of leather, shaping a piece of spaghetti, accumulating dust, etc. In one way or another, these interventions defy any possibility of channeling the work through traditional media, first and foremost photography. Stucchi’s language is not only “weak” and “sibylline” by its very nature, but also establishes itself as totally self-referential.
